Hospital building planned by Nickl & Partner Architects and MMI Schweiz AG
August 2018 – After the planning permission for the 450 million CHF project Kantonspital Baden was promptly granted by the City Council of Baden, the construction work for the new Kantonsspital Baden (Baden/ Switzerland) begun now begun. According to the managing director of KSB, Adrian Schmitter, the fact that no objections were raised by the council demonstrates that the planners have delivered professional work. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on the 31st of August.
Following the completion of construction work and the move into the new building, which is anticipated to take place in 2022, the former hospital building from the 1970s will be demolished. The new six-storey hospital was designed by Nickl & Partner Architekten in cooperation with MMI. The new building is characterized by modular and flexible structures as well as a modern and efficient infrastructure with plenty of natural light. As the concept of “healing architecture” was central to architectural planning, factors such as lighting, materials, floor plan organization, noises, art in construction, etc. were taken into account. One of the key objectives was to thereby create a positive and healing effect for patients.
