Anne Hilgendorff received her MD in 2001 from the Justus-Liebig-University in Giessen, Germany. She trained in the Department of Pediatrics in Giessen under the guidance of L. Gortner, followed by a fellowship in Neonatology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich under the guidance of A. Schulze in 2005. She received the Board Certification in Pediatrics 2008 and the Board Certification in Neonatology in 2011.
From 2008 to 2010 she became a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University in Stanford under the guidance of R. Bland and M. Rabinovitch. After her return to Munich, she became the leader of a Young Investigator Group comprising experimental and clinical studies investigating molecular mechanisms in neonatal chronic lung disease at the Comprehensive Pneumology Center, Helmholtz Zentrum Muenchen as well as the Perinatal Center at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU).
As a Senior Physician in Neonatology and Neuropediatrics at Dr. von Haunersche Children´s Hospital Anne Hilgendorff is responsible for the outpatient clinic for preterm infants at the LMU.
After a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Stanford, different collaborative research projects led to the position of a Visiting Associate Professor at the School of Medicine in Stanford. Furthermore, she became a collaborator of the European COST network and a Principal Investigator in the German Lung Research Center.
Since 2018 Anne Hilgendorff works also as a Medical Consultant for MMI Munich Medical International. She was instrumental in creating a concept for process-optimization for University Hospital Basel, Switzerland.
