Mrs. Genzel-Boroviczény studied medicine and physics in Bonn, Germany, and spent her last year of medical school  in Boston at Harvard Medical School and Boston University in 1978/79. This was followed by her residency training at Children’s Hospital in Oakland, California. During the nine years in the U.S. Mrs. Genzel-Boroviczény worked for two years as a post-doctoral fellow at Donner Laboratory, Berkeley, CA  where she started her research focus in the nutrition of preterm infants which led to her “Habilitation” in 1999 in Munich.

After returning to Germany, she completed her residency training at the Dr. von Hauner Children’s Hospital, University of Munich, then devoted herself entirely to Neonatology. As one of the first in Bavaria, Mrs. Genzel-Boroviczény received the newly created German board certification in Neonatology in 1994. From then to 2003 she was senior physician of Neonatology at Munich University Hospital Grosshadern (2.5 years as an acting director).
Since 2003, Mrs. Genzel-Boroviczény heads the neonatal department at downtown campus of Munich University Hospital. She has shifted her research focus to the changes of the microcirculation in health and disease.

For over 15 years she has been working intensively on the development of a new medical curriculum at Munich University and the necessary didactic training of the faculty.
She organized many international teaching courses in Munich and internationally, in particular in Ethiopia and in Vietnam. Her focus is seminar teaching, feed back and communication.

Mrs. Genzel-Boroviczény is  a member of many boards such as Screening committee  and the Nutrition committee of the German Society of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (DGKJ), the medical quality assurance board for perinatology in Bavaria.


She is based at the Perinatal Center in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Munich University Hospital, Downtown Campus, Maistr. 11, 80337 Munich.
