In 2010 the Martin Luther University of Halle started to implement a curriculum reform at their Medical Faculty. Prof. Frank Christ (MMI) supported the reform process by consulting the Faculty continously. MMI conducted several “Teach the Teacher” programs for the Faculty together with a team of lecturers from LMU Munich University Hospital.
For his commitment Prof. Christ was awarded the “Ehrenmedaille” (medal of honor) of the University of Halle in August 2014 (see MMI News).
The new curriculum concept (case based teaching and problem based learning in small groups instead of lectures only) was originally developed in 1996 by Harvard Medical International and the Medical Faculty of LMU Munich University. Frank Christ was part of this project team and he headed the Munich-Harvard Alliance, which was instrumental for the implementation of the new curriculum in Munich in the late 90s.
